NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 12
Welcome to the main bye rounds. Best thing about byes is you can usually always have a player to loop through so it really opens up some late VC options.
21 players scored 125+ last week. We also learnt nothing is guaranteed with Supercoach. Coming off 203 we expected Grundy to dominate Geelong but they threw numerous bodies at him and the workhorse style Grundy was always against a fresher man. Oliver and LDU popped off for 140+ and their biggest score of the year. Holmes, Anderson, Merrett, Sheezel and Daicos were good scoring 124+
Ninja VC: First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: Jordan Dawson (111) Average 113.8
Jai Newcombe: Was hard to find someone here, but I think Jai is the best. Played at Marvel once this year for 125 and has scores as big as 136 vs Saints in his last 3 meetings.
Boom or Bust VC:This will be a high variance VC option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week : Archie Roberts (156) Average: 96
Roberts had 33 touches but didn’t do enough with them to make it a monster score.
Bailey Dale: Half Backs vs Pies appears to be money. McCarthy 117, Blakey 156, Humphries 96 in the last 3 weeks.
Early VC: Friday/early Saturday VC/C option a lot of people will likely lock in.
Last week: Brodie Grundy (95) Average 123.8
Number 1 was Grundy, who went lower then wanted but Merrett and Sheezel got the job done.
1) Brodie Grundy: Tigers don’t have the man power to stop Grundy. Scored 155 vs tigers last year. 136, 130, 203 last 3 scores at SCG
2) Marcus Bontempelli: Yes he’s sore but the pies have proven to be a fruitful match up for Bont. 186, 123, 125 last 3
3) Bailey Smith: Having another big year. A low of 97 in last 10 games and 4 scores 150+
Captain Obvious: Let’s make it an easy decision. Should hit 110 on a bad day but hopefully we get that 130 we are chasing.
Last week: Zak Butters (103) Average 116.5
Only Nick gave me a good captains score last week…
1) Nick Daicos: Historically scores well vs dogs. 125, 156, 139 last 3. Dogs don’t usually tag and run head to head vs mids.
2) Zach Merrett: Vs Eagles. Consistent this year. Hopefully after his 126 we see a little uptick
3) Kozi Pickett: This is more gutfeel then stats. Feel like the man is going to have a big day out in the Alice.
Hail Mary: Last game of the week. Just incase your team hasn’t performed and you need that last moment magic to win some head to head matches.
Last week: Max Gawn (114) Average (122.3)
Darcy Parish: If you are still holding this man he just popped off in a big way. Now vs Eagles at Optus he has scored 148 & 136 against them in Perth.
