NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 19
Good week for the Mailbag Captains. Nas #1 VC, Bont #1 C for 3rd and 5th best of the week. Lachie Neale and Will Ashcroft shared #2 C option for 2nd and 4th best of the week. All those four players went 150+. But the standout of the week was Wilkie with 191. Xerri 133 sometimes maybe good sometimes maybe shit. Richards 133, Brad Hill is feasting with another 138 with Sinclair out and the better Daicos, Josh scored 135.
Ninja VC
First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: Murphy Reid (107) Average: 116.1
Bailey Smith: This is my go to when Geelong plays at GMBHA. All comes down to disposal efficiency for Baz. If he can hit a target he can easily score 130+ which he has done on five occasions. But if it’s a little wet and efficiency drops we are more than likely looking at 105-110.
Boom or Bust
This will be a high variance option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week : Max Hall (80) Average: 97.1
While 80 was a bad score, it made locking in your captain so much easier, and hopefully you had Bont or Neale and got those high 150+ scores.
Brad Hill: Usually I wouldn’t double up on a Thursday night but this makes sense to me for this play. 3 round average is 136.7 since Sinclair went down. Has such a lucrative role in this Saints team so hopefully that continues but it’d hard to trust that Ross wont change things.
VICE CAPTAIN
Last week: Nasiah Wanganeen-MIlera (154) Average 126.7
1) Luke Jackson: Grundy was always going to be tough last week for Jackson. But Sweet is a much more lucrative match up. Marshall scored 122 last week and I fully expect Jackson to get back to triple digit scoring.
2) Harry Sheezel: Got some attention early last week which stopped him from going massive. But he seems to be in the form of his life and while Melbourne can send tags and someone unexpected players, hopefully Sheezel can work through it if it comes his way again early.
3) Shai Bolton/Caleb Serong/Andrew Brayshaw: Port are just leaking points. But this week with no Butters and no JHF, that midfield is so depleted. Surely one of Freo’s mids can get off the chain and take control of the game and have a monster game. 5 players have scored 135+ vs Port in the last 2 weeks.
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS
Last week: Marcus Bontempelli (152) Average 124.3
Last week I felt good about VC’s and C’s and they all delivered. This week the match ups don’t look as good. This week if you get 120 as VC you may want to think about taking it as the match ups don’t look as juicy for high scoring.
1) Will Ashcroft: Can’t go past the kid at all. If he is your trade in for Butters why not put the captain on him this week? Bont and Richards really got the eagles last week. Now its Will Ashcroft and Lachie Neale’s turn if you don’t own Ashcroft.
2) Nick Daicos: Vs the old foe. Scored 140 earlier in the year vs Carlton. Wildly consistent all year and should be a good choice this week.
3) Will Day: Someone a little different here. But I like the Hawks match up vs Tigers. And Day could finally out up a monster score we all know he is capable of.
Hail Mary
Last game of the week. Just in case your team hasn’t performed and you need that last moment magic to win some head to head matches.
Last week: Lachie Neale (153) Average (120.9)
Clayton Oliver: Who knows what type of Essendon will show up? Clarry has been super consistent without really having big ones. This week could be different after the extremely lacklustre performance Essendon had last week and Oliver and Giants may run riot.
