The Round 18 Wash-Up

Apologies for no article last week, but apparently it was good to have a week off because there’s quite a bit to get through.

Injuries galore, and if you cast your mind back to last season, there’s something about Round 18.

Here’s this rounds Heroes and Villains;

heroes:

Callum Wilkie enjoyed a day out to come away with a 191, while Nasiah in the same game finished on 154. Izak Rankine showed what he can do in favourable conditions with a 149. Bradley Hill loved notching up a 138, Josh Daicos mopped up for a 135. Tristan Xerri had a day out for 133, Nick Daicos joined him with a 121. Clayton Oliver wound back the clock with a 127. Sam Walsh wasn’t affected by conditions to come with a 125. Wayne Milera was a welcome return with 117, and Jordan Dawson did OK with 116. Max Holmes and Lachie Ash both ended on 112. Andrew Brayshaw was the engine for Fremantle finishing on 121. Marcus Bontempelli, Ed Richards & Bailey Dale steered the ship for the Dogs to end on 152, 133 and 110 respectively. Harley Reid continues to bloom with a 131. Max Gawn had a slow start but still finished on 116 to appease owners. Jake Bowey and Jack Steele were nice PODs finishing on 133 and 123 respectively. Will Ashcroft is having an amazing run giving owners a huge 174, and Lachie Neale had a day out with 153. Sam Durham continues to reward those who took the plunge with a 106.

Others: Rowan Marshall (122), Darcy Cameron (126), Brayden Cook (111), Errol Gulden (109), Nick Blakey (109), Murphy Reid (107), Zac Bailey (106)

Villains:

Finn Callaghan was tagged and if not a late goal his 86 would’ve been a lot worse. Luke Davies-Uniacke had a slow start and couldn’t save an 83. Isaac Heeney was unsighted after half time to finish on 80. The Suns team was overrun meaning Touk Miller and Noah Anderson couldn’t come up better than 72 and 69, respectively. Christian Petracca in the same game spent 80% of the match up forward and finished on 55. Couldn’t even tell you the role Zach Merrett had to only finish on 49.

Others: Josh Worrell (78), Will Day (76), Bodhi Uwland (84), Josh Dunkley (76)

INJURY & SUSPENSION NEWS:

ZAK BUTTERS - A bad ankle injury ended his day early, and will likely be the last time we see him this season.

RORY LAIRD - Failed to complete the game versus Gold Coast owing to an ankle concern.

GEORGE HEWETT - Didn’t appear after quarter time due to a deabilitating back issue.

JEREMY CAMERON - Initially was thought to be a collarbone issue, but scans have revealed a high grade AC joint problem. Surgery is required and he will miss at least a month, if not longer.

TANNER BRUHN - Taken to hospital in a neck brace after a collision in the middle of the ground. Prognosis unclear at this stage.

JASON HORNE-FRANCIS - After a high bump in Saturday’s game versus St Kilda, the Horney One will miss next week’s clash unless challenged.

TOM BLAMIRES - Entered concussion protocols after a bump during Friday night’s game against Collingwood

MILAN MURDOCK - Exited the game in the 4th quarter with what appeared to be a dislocated shoulder

BAILEY DALE - Brushed off trainers but came to the bench anyway and appeared to have a sore shoulder/chest.

AND FINALLY, HOW DID THE TRAFFIC LIGHTS FARE?

Would you have held onto Cook after scores of 20 & 32, or was his job security enough to hold onto? A reward of 111 this week if you did, completely understandable if he overstayed his welcome.
