NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 10
Felt like we had some good scorers this week. With 13 players scoring above 130. 4 of those players have ownership pretty much 40% or higher. So hopefully you had the VC/C on one of those. Bontempelli top scored while Max Gawn returned with a 134 playing predominately as a full forward? Writing this article last week and picking my captains I felt more uncertainty then in previous weeks, and the numbers show. Missed the mark last week. Now we bounce back.
Ninja VC: First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: Shai Bolton (95) Average 109.7
Bailey Smith: History says the Irish blanket will go to Neale. 72 & 71 last two but also Atkins could go to McCluggage. So that leaves Geelong players most likely to pop off and Baz is that guy.
Boom or Bust VC:This will be a high variance VC option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week : Zac Bailey (75) BUST Average: 90.6
Nick Blakey: Let’s be honest. This has been ordinary to say the best. So enter ‘The Lizard’. Scored 124 last week. We know he is good but this week he is up up against the Pies and at home. Geelong had Humphries, Stewart & O’Sullivan score 80+. Watch the Lizard run on the field and run up the score.
Early VC: Friday/early Saturday VC/C option a lot of people will likely lock in.
Last week: Zak Butters (130) Average 129.8
Butters was good, but Bont was better in their game against each other.
1) Isaac Heeney: Superstar. Best non ruck Avg on the year. Bailey smith had 40 touches for 130 vs Pies. Rockstar Heeney should have a big night.
2) Noah Anderson: I know owners have been frustrated with Anderson but he had a monster score last week. Good news he is back to TIO stadium again so I’m fully expecting another big score.
3) Jordan Dawson: Roos could tag with O’Sullivan or even Simpkin but I’d roll the dice here. 138 & 115 in his last two games.
Captain Obvious: Let’s make it an easy decision. Should hit 110 on a bad day but hopefully we get that 130 we are chasing.
Last week: Christian Petracca (90) Average 123.7
Not sure I could have picked worse captains last week. Trac & Kozi failed and I didn’t trust Gawn at Full Forward.
1) Luke Jackson: #1 for total points. Gets a match up vs Bombers. Looks like best match up for all rucks. Lock him in.
2) Marcus Bontempelli: Highest scorer for round 9. The man is hurting but as always has a jet pack on his back and carrying the dogs to greatness.
3) Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera. Assuming he plays this week. Scored 149 vs Eagles at Marvel and now has Tigers.
Hail Mary: Last game of the week. Just incase your team hasn’t performed and you need that last moment magic to win some head to head matches.
Last week: Lachlan McAndrew (84) Average (128)
Went a bit left field last week in choosing McAndrew, but let’s be honest, there wasn’t really an obvious candidate at time of writing last week’s article.
Finn Callaghan: Who else? Gotta be Finn. He’s teasing us and ready to pop off. If you don’t have Finn and still want to go late the next best option would be Whitfield.
TAG ALERT
Nick Daicos got plenty of ball, but was ineffective. 29 touches for 67 points. Mullin once again did a job and this week expect him to go to Lachie Neale. Has been successful a few times on him last year restricting him to 72 & 71.
Talking about Nick he plays Sydney this week and James Jordan looms. Stop Nick, Stop Collingwood so may be another hard day if you started Nick.
OUR PICKS
Nate: Last week Max Holmes (91)
No loop this week past Thursday night. Put the VC on Bolton then had a decision Friday night. Butters, Bont or Holmes. Holmes my guy let me down and I left 40-70 points on the table with 1 decision. Worst captain of the year and first captain below 130 since round 1.
AVG: 135.1
3 Week AVG: 130.3
VC: Brodie Grundy
C: Marcus Bontempelli
Damo: Last week Zak Butters (130)
I called Damo was on a run and last week hit Butters and didn’t think twice locking that in.
AVG: 114.7
3 Week AVG: 117.3
VC: Max Holmes
C: Luke Jackson
Clarky: Last week Bailey Dale (128)
Got a handy 128. BUTTTTT if the great man kept the faith and left the Captain on Archie Roberts he gets that 151 Clarky deserved last week.
AVG: 125
3 Week AVG: 126.3
VC/C: Tune into the podcast this week to find out!
