NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 11
Brodie Grundy. If you had him as VC last week you felt really good. If you didn’t own Grundy you were left in a hole. But if you had Baz, Dale, Sinclair, Butters, Anderson or Dawson as your VC/C you should pat yourself on the back as you hit that 130+ and in a week that someone doesn’t score 200 that is exactly what we are looking for. We had 14 players score 130+ so its isn’t the easiest thing to do is hit one every single week.
Ninja VC: First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: Bailey Smith (154) Average 114.1
Jordan Dawson: Scored 130 last week, but also vs hawks last year he scored 149 in Adelaide and 118 in Tassie. Looks as if he is in form and playing an opponent he has a good history with.
Boom or Bust VC:This will be a high variance VC option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week : Nick Blakey (156) OH BABY!! Average: 97.1
Finally landed a monster here. Pies leak to half back and Blakey took advantage.
Archie Roberts: Not sure any man further says boom or bust then Archie Roberts. 4 scores over 135 in last 7 weeks but also a 106, 100 and 93. Love this spot for a VC
Early VC: Friday/early Saturday VC/C option a lot of people will likely lock in.
Last week: Isaac Heeney (99) Average 126.7
Heeney was sub par but the other two options mentioned Butters & Anderson did the job. Last week this came out before news of Cameron wasn’t playing was known that’s why no mention of Brodie Grundy.
1) Brodie Grundy: Coming off 203 and playing Geelong. Mitch Edwards is doing his job but he isn’t going to stop a ruckman like Grundy from Scoring.
2) Zach Merrett: Quietly having a very good season. 113.6 avg and a top 6 mid. Vs tigers this week who are very banged up. You imagine he has a big game.
3) Harry Sheezel: If you can push your VC to Saturday I really like this pick. He has played 5 games at Marvel this year with a low of 97 and every other score 126+
Captain Obvious: Let’s make it an easy decision. Should hit 110 on a bad day but hopefully we get that 130 we are chasing.
Last week: Luke Jackson (66) Average 117.9
Two dud weeks in a row. Jackson had a very rare fail, Bont and theBulldogs did a Carlton vs Carlton and stopped in the second half and news broke after this was published that NAS was going to miss 3 weeks.
1) Brodie Grundy: That’s how much I like him. #1 VC & C option. Depends on your loops
2) Zak Butters: vs Carlton. His last two games vs Carlton have been 125 & 123. Butters form is hot, so we lock him in. #1 option if running Grundy is your VC and you need a captain.
3) Nick Daicos: I’m thinking Nick is going to show up and play a blinder of such a special day for one of the greats of the game.
Hail Mary: Last game of the week. Just incase your team hasn’t performed and you need that last moment magic to win some head to head matches.
Last week: Finn Callaghan (79) Average (123.1)
Max Gawn: Max could easily be a top 3 captain choice this week. But I am posting this on a Tuesday for a Sunday game. So I am unaware of teams. This is assuming English isn’t playing and Gawn may ruck a lot against Lobb & Emmett. If English does play I would lean towards Marcus Bontempelli for the last game hail mary if required.
TAG ALERT
Last week we saw a new tagger. Milan Murdock went to Lachie Whitfield. Does this continue? Does he go to Houston or Nick Daicos?
Kangaroos may look to send Finn O’Sullivan back into the tagging roll against a stacked Suns midfield.
Who does Mullin go to for Geelong this week? Chad Warner seems most likely. Baz is under an injury cloud but if he plays could he get James Jordan?
