The Round 9 Wash-Up
Every trade matters as the bye period approaches, only a couple of weeks away…
Some massive scores around the place, and might be a week where teams have to sit still and wait for team selection before settling on any moves because there’s not a clear downgrade! Get your questions in!
But first here’s this rounds Heroes and Villains;
heroes:
Marcus Bontempelli did it on one leg to finish on 163, and Archie Roberts is coming from the clouds to be a top 6 defender with a 151, Izak Rankine turned the game for the Crows to be rewarded with a 149, and we finally saw the Noah Anderson we dreamed of with a 145. Luke Jackson and Josh Battle top scored in the Thursday Night Thriller with 141 and 143 respectively, while Max Gawn flexed his muscle with a 134. Lachie Whitfield had a massive last quarter to end on 133, while Luke Davies-Uniacke powered to 131. Zak Butters and Bailey Smith both hit 130.
Others: Harry Sheezel (126), Nick Blakey (124), Sam Flanders (120), Caleb Serong (118)
Villains:
Kysaiah Pickett was a bit flat versus West Coast to finish on 65, while Zac Bailey was equally as flat against Carlton to finish on 75. Jordan Clark is going missing in games and it’s starting to really hurt his scoring, only managing 72 this week. Josh Dunkley just hasn’t quite been himself this season only getting to 80. Nick Daicos was tagged into irrelevance and scored 67. St Kilda managing Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera created panic on Saturday night with most replacements locked out, and can I call Brodie Grundy’s 96 a villainous score?
Others: Luke Ryan (67), Jason Horne-Francis (74), Andrew Brayshaw (90), Clayton Oliver (83)
INJURY & SUSPENSION NEWS:
(for relevant SC players)
ZAK BUTTERS - The stand-in Power captain was sweating the MRO’s verdict after a late hit on Joel Freijah on Friday night, but he was cleared with no case to answer
KYSAIAH PICKETT - One of Picketts first actions on Sunday was accidentally clipping the head of Jake Waterman. Luckily for Pickett the hit didn’t cause major issues for Waterman with the Eagles forward playing out the game, and it was clearly an accidental hit and not an elected action.
CALLUM WILKIE - The St Kilda defender failed to complete the game against the Suns after copping a knee to the rib area. His consecutive game streak is in major doubt to continue with a week on the sideline looking very likely.
NASIAH WANGANEEN-MILERA - He was withdrawn from the game as a management precaution, and is expected to be fine for the game against Richmond this week.
TIM ENGLISH - The Bulldogs ruck facing more time out of the game after friendly fire has put him into concussion protocols.
