NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 18
Some big scores last week for our captains. If you made it to Sunday and landed on the monster score of 180 to Sheezel or 160 of Nas, well played. Other great captains where Max Gawn (165) with Ned Reeves being injured and Hawks only running one ruck. High variance option in Dale also delivered 151. Other good scores came from Dawson (135), Daicos (133), Smith (125). Luke Parker (142) & JHF (131) also very solid options.
Ninja VC
First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: Bailey Smith (125) Average: 116.6
Murphy Reid/Chad Warner: I’m saying Grundy and Jackson nullify each other this week so going for attacking half forwards for either team. Both guys have the ability to go big if their team gets on top. Goal kicking Mids which can unlock big scores.
Boom or Bust
This will be a high variance option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week : Riley Thilthorpe (DNP) Average: 98.2
As I write this before teams, I didn’t know Thilthorpe would miss due to illness, but Fogarty did score 121 so this could have been a big hit.
Max Hall: This week looks like a 120 VC would be a disaster. Some good match ups where 120 could leave points on the table. Max Hall has a 91.3 average but he has a couple 140’s so this appears the perfect player for this play.
VICE CAPTAIN
Last week: Jordan Dawson (135) Average 125.1
1) Nasiah Wanganeen Milera: Nas and Marvel are a perfect pair to me. Which happens 6 of the final 7 games. Last 3 games all at Marvel 135, 144, 160. Port leaked points last week. Sheezel 180, Parker 142, LDU 121 and that match up is why Nas gets top spot.
2) Harry Sheezel: 153, 175, 180 last 3. Pies wont tag so it will be a head to head battle. Nick vs Sheez. Who goes bigger?
3) Nick Daicos: Nick somehow slides to #3 this week. Where usually this would be #1 on his run of form. Kangas can throw Finn O’Sullivan as a tagger. Went to Butters last week who fought to 103. But this guys numbers; 5 week avg 134, 3 week avg 148.7
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS
Last week: Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (160) Average 122.7
1) Marcus Bontempelli: Match ups matter. Bont last 3 vs Eagles all @ Marvel. 148, 110, 162. Looks like the best and safest captain option.
2) Lachie Neale: While not having his best season, we know his class. Brisbane are playing much better and should feast on Essendon, and has a good history in this matchup.
also Will Ashcroft: I like Will more than Lachie. Currently has a 3 round avg of 135.7 but his ownership is lower at only 7%. If you have him, select him.
3) Max Gawn: I wasn’t convinced this was a good match up for Gawn due to a pretty meh 105 in round 7, but that could be owed to getting kneed in the back and a low-ish TOG%. In the two games vs Richmond prior to that though, 174 & 162.
Hail Mary
Last game of the week. Just in case your team hasn’t performed and you need that last moment magic to win some head to head matches.
Last week: Zak Butters (103) Average (118.9)
Lachie Neale: Mentioned above BUT if you followed the Spark last week and want to have a little fun. Why not Logan Morris? Surely he kicks an absolute bag against the Bombers to finish the week and that point of difference as a captain. Mastermind.
