NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 3
We are going to look at some of the best captain options for round 3. If playing for overall hopefully it has started well and all leagues are now up and running and its never been more important to nail our captains. Having an injured captain is unpredictable but hurts for everyone who had the orange band on Trac last week.
Ninja VC: First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: James Sicily (90) (Average: 93)
Max Holmes: Crows don’t usually tag. Saw some big scores for the dogs last week with Bont (141) & Freijah (121). Holmes has started well including a 141 vs Freo at GMHBA.
Boom or bust VC: This will be a high variance VC option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week: Wayne Milera (61) BUST! (Average: 77)
Dan Houston : Started the year well (94 & 132) and GWS gave up 118 to Sinclair last week. Last time vs GWS scored 174 an in ’23 it was 128 points.
Early VC: Friday/early Saturday VC/C option a lot of people will likely lock in.
Last week: Marcus Bontempelli (141) (Average 150.5)
1) Nick Daicos: 117 & 126 this year. Giants tried a tag last week on Nas but dropped it early. Still no Bedford either.
2) Jack Sinclair: 143, 123, 115. Dominating off back flank again. Lions conceded 127 to Blakey & 114 to Bice in their last game.
Captain obvious: Let’s make it an easy decision. Should hit 110 on a bad day but hopefully we get that 130 we are chasing.
Last week: Butters (135) (Average 114.5)
1) Luke Jackson: Scored 113 last week. Playing Richmond without Nank. Playing that big bodied mid and second ruck role looks very juicy this week. Could be a monster score coming.
2) Tristian Xerri: 199 last week. Now against Blakiston and Essendon. Sweet scored 121 so it feels like X is going to get ‘em again.
3) Zak Butters: Bounced back last week and not has the Eagles. No Rozee so he is the midfield leader
Hail mary: It’s the last game as you are chasing the win in league. Lets throw the captains armband on someone in the last game to sneak a win out of nowhere.
Last week: Xerri (199) (Average 175.5)
Max Gawn: Holding until the last game has been money this year. Gawn is proving he is still the best ruck in the comp even with these new rules. Historically scores well vs Blues. Scores of 122 & 141 hasn’t let owners down. Elite C option still.
