The Round 3 Wash-Up
Round 3 of the AFL season has been completed, and a round with much less chaos than the last. Which is as good we can hope for.
ROUND 3 HEROES:
Nick Daicos treated owners to a 150, while Harry Sheezel continued on his merry way with a 145. Bailey Smith went ballistic on Thursday night giving us a 172, and Docker duo Josh Treacy and Caleb Serong dominated in the wet to give us 140 and 135 respectively. Kozzy Pickett’s third term helped him on his way to 135, Zak Butters churned out 126 in a close game, Finn Callaghan and Lachie Whitfield were shining lights for the Giants with a 128 and 124 respectively. Max Holmes 121, Colby McKercher 118, Jack Sinclair 114 and Luke Jackson 108 were others to bring happiness to their coaches.
ROUND 3 VILLAINS:
Darcy Parish continues to struggle to play out a full game leaving us with a 67, Tanner Bruhn spent a lot of time of the bench only allowing him to achieve 47, Tristan Xerri is on his way to the tribunal and left coaches to rue a 68, while Stephen Coniglio struggled to 43. Dan Houston left owners in a twist only gaining 61 points, Zach Merrett copped a tag and finished on 87. Lachie Neale 73, Wayne Milera 57 were also disappointing for owners.
NOTABLE INJURY/SUSPENSION NEWS:
Tristan Xerri is on his way to the tribunal after wiping blood on his opponents face. He is facing a serious misconduct charge, and reporters from Channel 7 and Fox Footy are predicting weeks on the sideline.
Todd Marshall didn’t line up this weekend owing to an ankle injury, but it appears to be a minor one and likely to return in Round 4. More updates to come this week.
Darcy Moore didn’t look convincing against the Giants and will now miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury. Opening the door for Dan Houston to reclaim some of the role he was scoring so well in.
Noah Answerth will miss the upcoming fixture against Collingwood in concussion protocols, but Keidean Coleman returning to the backline to cover was a positive for owners.
