The Round 2 Wash-up

What a week to kick this one off. Rookies were awful, premiums underperformed, injuries everywhere. It’s been a rough start for the SuperCoach community.

Let’s see what issues to SuperCoach relevant players we need to keep across this week

NICK WATSON - HAMSTRING
Nick Watson left the game against Sydney with a hamstring issue but returned in time to kick the sealing goal. Post game he said he was fine, but had scans the next morning just to be safe. There have been no further reports at this stage, and Hawthorn have a bye in Round 3.

RORY LAIRD - CALF
Laird left the game vs Bulldogs during the 2nd quarter, but returned to play out the game. He didn’t look like he was playing at full capacity however and spent large portions on the bench in the second half. He went for scan on Saturday, and is now expected to miss the Round 3 clash against Geelong.

JORDAN DAWSON - INJURED?
Finished the game on Friday night on the bench and was marked injured by the AFL app. No update has been provided.

CHRISTIAN PETRACCA - HAMSTRING
We looked like we were in for a big score against Richmond, but unfortunately the new Sun ended the game on the bench. Gold Coast released an update on Sunday evening saying that Petracca will miss the medium term with his injury, further reporting has surmised that this equals 4-6 weeks.

BAILEY HUMPHREY - MRO (2 WEEKS)
The man who may have benefitted from the Petracca injury will now also miss two weeks after a slinging tackle to Maurice Rioli Jr. Not in many teams, but would have been on some radars as a potential stop gap.

DYSON SHARP - ANKLE
Exited the game against Port Adelaide and did not return owing to an ankle injury. Look out for the club to provide an update in Tuesday’s medical report.

CONNOR ROZEE - LEG
Left the game against Essendon with no clear cut injury, but it appears the Power captain will miss up to 3 months with some kind of leg muscle/nerve injury. A timeline to be provided during the week. There was a concern over a knee injury, then a hamstring, but Port Adelaide football manager Ben Rutten told Fox Footy it appears to be some kind of nerve damage.

Josh Carr post-game had this to say, “It doesn't look great. Initially there was a bit of nerve damage, (he) couldn't feel his leg, reviewing it after the game it looked likely a tendon involved.”

Connor Rozee post-game didn’t seem too upbeat about the potential prognosis either, telling Erin Phillips for Channel 7, “Trying to be pretty optimistic but it doesn't feel too great to be honest.”

Which hits you the hardest?
