NATE’S CAPTAINS - Round 6
We are going to look at some of the best captain options for round 4. Hopefully a better week for most of us. Unless of course you chose Xerri and that just ended your week badly. But we bounce back this week and nail that captain.
Ninja VC: First game of the week. In your league head to head match ups your opponent cannot see changes to your team you have made until the Thursday night game starts. Catch them by surprise with a big VC.
Last week: Jordan Dawson (80) Average: 99.6
Nick Daicos: Looks like an old man warming up, but once he’s going he is hard to stop. Scored 94 last week and vs the old foe Carlton it’s hard to see him being stopped. Should be better for the run after last week.
Boom or Bust VC: This will be a high variance VC option. Hoping to hit it out of the park and make it an easy decision for you. Either hell yeah or hell no.
Last week : Sam Draper (117) MEH! Average: 84
Isaac Heeney: Despite scoring a 196 and 156 last two weeks, the battle of the bridge always holds a curveball or two. Bedford is back, is his fitness ready to tag Heeney? If not, Heeney could explode for a third week in a row.
Early VC: Friday/early Saturday VC/C option a lot of people will likely lock in.
Last week: Max Gawn (131) Average 135.8
Gawn’s score was the 11th highest score of the round. Sheezel’s 127 was 14th and Jackson’s 125 was 18th. We saw a few people roll the dice on these scores into a very popular Marcus Bontempelli that didn’t pay off. Sometimes it’s best to not overlook captains and take the easy, safe score.
1) Brodie Grundy: Against GWS this week. Briggs was dropped for Madden last week and performed well vs Hayes-Brown. Madden comes up against a man mountain this week though, expect Grundy to have a day out.
2) Zach Merrett: He’s quitely been powering along and is a top 6 averaging midfielder this season, with only 1 low score due to a tag. Gold Coast gave up massive midfield scores to Sydney last week, time for Merrett to cash in.
Captain Obvious: Let’s make it an easy decision. Should hit 110 on a bad day but hopefully we get that 130 we are chasing.
Last week: Max Holmes (138) Average 125.6
Holmes played more half-back vs West Coast, could be nursing that broken finger we’ve been hearing about. He wasn’t as attacking as expected but showed his run and carry, and elite kicking when the behind the ball.
1) Luke Jackson: When Darcy went down last week, the man was unleashed. Derby this week and can’t see how the Eagles stop him as a ruck or a midfielder.
2) Harry Sheezel: Good luck Richmond. Lowest of 97, averaging 125 and round 23 last year scored a lazy 185.
3) Jordan Dawson: Thought his first half last week was very good, even if his score didn’t fully reflect it.
Hail Mary: Last game heroics to win a league game. Look no further.
Last week: Zak Butters (145) Average (147.8)
Luke Jackson: This guy is a superstar and my #1 captain pick this week.
Tag Alert: Adding something new. This is a player we think may get a tag or extra attention this week, and despite them being in good form and looking good, you may want to think twice to avoid any disappointment.
Finn Callaghan: James Jordon looms this week, who kept Noah Anderson to 72 last week. Callaghan had it on a string vs Tigers, and probably won’t have that same freedom this week.
OUR PICKS
Nate: Last week Gawn (131)
Personally, I’m talking the 130+ score every day of the week. Even though Holmes did pip Gawn, it wasn’t worth the stress. Leave that to the midpricers that are finally out of my team.
AVG: 137.8
VC: Brodie Grundy. Maybe Isaac Heeney if I trade him in.
C: Harry Sheezel
Damo: Last week Jackson VC (125)
Highest VC/C of the year for Damo. When he got a 125, he took no risks and just locked that in.
AVG: 108
VC: Nick Daicos in his 100th
C: Harry Sheezel
Clarky: Last week Sinclair (82)
Week from hell for Clarky. VC on SerWRONG and then went for his own Hail Mary in Sinclair, who decided to have his first sub 100 game in the wet.
AVG: 122
VC: Max Holmes
C: Caleb Serong
